Covid-19 cases in Sri Lanka rise after largest 24-hour increase on Monday

More persons have tested positive for COVID-19 raising the total number of confirmed cases in Sri Lanka to 588 as at Monday evening.

A total of 65 have tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday  increasing the total number of cases to 588, the health ministry said. 

This is the highest number of cases reported in Sri Lanka within a day and on Sunday (26) Sri Lanka reported  63 infections within 24 hours.

To date a total of 180 Navy personnel attached to the Welisara Navy Camp had tested positive for COVID-19, Army Commander Shavendra Silva said today. Among them 112 have been identified from the Welisara Navy camp, and  others were the Navy personnel who were on leave Comander Shavendra Silva confirmed.

451 patients are currently under medical care, according to the ministry information.
