CID Confirms ‘Kajja’ Was in Vehicle That Trailed Wasim Thajudeen Before His Murder

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has officially confirmed that   Aruna Vidanagamage  , widely known by his alias  “Kajja” , was inside the jeep that followed rugby player   Wasim Thajudeen’s   car moments before his brutal killing in 2012.

The revelation marks a significant development in the high-profile case, which has remained under CID investigation for more than   13 years   without a definitive breakthrough in identifying Thajudeen’s killer.

According to investigators, the confirmation came after   Kajja’s wife   provided a detailed statement, verifying that her late husband—who was   shot dead in Middeniya   earlier this year—was indeed in the vehicle seen trailing Thajudeen on CCTV footage captured shortly before the murder.

She is said to have made the identification after being shown the relevant footage during questioning.

Subsequent CID analysis corroborated her account, confirming that the man visible in the recordings was   Aruna Vidanagamage (Kajja)  .

Investigators say efforts are now focused on   verifying additional evidence   and   identifying other individuals   who may have been involved in the crime.

Thajudeen’s death, initially ruled a car accident, was later reclassified as a   murder   after evidence of foul play emerged, drawing widespread public attention and sparking years of speculation over those responsible.
