Royal Australian Navy ship HMAS Parramatta arrives at port of Colombo

The Royal Australian Navy ship HMAS Parramatta arrived today (07th March 2020) at the port of Colombo and she was welcomed by Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval traditions.

HMAS Parramatta is on a five-day goodwill visit aiming to continue the close maritime security cooperation between Australia and Sri Lanka, the Australian High Commission in Colombo said.

The Australian warship with a crew of 190 officers and sailors, is scheduled to remain in Sri Lanka from 07 to 11 March 2020.

During the stay, the Australian and Sri Lankan Navies will work together on a range of subjects, including shipborne helicopter operations, vessel boarding and search capabilities, engineering, and maritime surveillance.

The HMAS Parramatta crew is also scheduled to participate in a number of cultural events, tours, sports events and other events organized by the Sri Lanka Navy.

The Ship’s visit will enable the Navy personnel of both countries to share their technical knowledge and develop professional relationships.
