Samagi Jana Sandanaya launched

The ‘Samagi Jana Sandanaya (SJS)’, a broad political alliance led by the main Parliamentary Opposition, the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB), was officially unveiled yesterday (8) under the Leadership of SJB and Opposition Leader and Presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa and with the signing of agreements with several parties. 

Several political parties and alliances, including the SJB, the Sri Lanka Freedom Party faction with Opposition Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara, Opposition MP Mano Ganesan’s Tamil Progressive Alliance which represents the upcountry community, the Sri Lanka Mahajana Pakshaya, the Sri Lanka Muslim Congress led by Opposition MP Rauff Hakeem, the ‘Nidahas Janatha Sabhawa’, former MP Arjuna Ranatunga’s ‘Purawesi Handa’, the Leader of the National Union of Workers and Opposition MP Palani Thigambaram, the Up-Country People’s Front Leader and Opposition MP V. Radhakrishnan, the Freedom People’s Congress Leader and Opposition MP Dullas Alahapperuma, Opposition MP Prof. G.L. Peiris, former Army Commander, General (retired) Mahesh Senanayake, Government Midwifery Services Association President Devika Kodithuwakku, and several other political parties have reached an agreement to form an alliance as the SJS. 

Additionally, the policies of the ‘SJS’ were also announced yesterday while Premadasa was officially presented as the Presidential candidate of the alliance
