SLPP decides not to support Ranil

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), at its Central Committee meeting, decided today not to support President Ranil Wickremesinghe at the Presidential election, but to field its own candidate instead.
Speaking to media, SLPP MP Sagara Kariyawasam said that the SLPP politburo has decided to field its own candidate instead.
He added that the chosen candidate will be named in the coming days.
The SLPP politburo had also decided to take strict disciplinary action against any party member contesting for the 2024 Presidential Election without the party’s approval.
