Ukrainian tourists in Sri Lanka protest in front of Russian Embassy

Ukrainians in Sri Lanka staged a peaceful protest in front of the Russian embassy in Colombo on Friday (25) against the invasion of their home country which has plunged Europe into a turmoil.

They demanded international mediation to ensure a halt to the Russian aggression immediately.

Ukrainian nationals stood outside the Embassy holding placards saying 'Stop Russian Aggression', 'Stop the war' and 'Russia Go Home', and said 'the full scale war' launched by Russia had caused the first casualties among military and civilians. "Ukrainians residing and traveling in Sri Lanka want the world to hear our voice. We believe as any other nation we have the right for peaceful protest," the Ukrainian nationals said.

Calling for strong sanctions and every possible means of pressure against Moscow, the agitators said Ukraine needed urgent military, humanitarian and financial support.
