Ven. Gnanasara Thera to head Presidential Task Force for ’’One Country, One Law’’ concept

An extraordinary gazette has been issued to appoint a 13-member Presidential Task Force (PTF), chaired by Bodu Bala Sena (BBS) General Secretary Ven. Galagodaaththe Gnanasara Thera to study the implementation of the concept “One Country, One Law” and prepare a draft Act.

The gazette notification (2251/30) was issued yesterday by virtue of the powers vested in the President.

13 members including Ven. Gnanasara Thera, Prof. Dayananda Banda Esquire, Prof. Shanthinandana Wijesinghe, Prof. Sumedha Siriwardana, N.G. Sujeewa Panditharathna, Iresh Senevirathne, Attorney at Law Sanjaya Marambe, Attorney at Law Eranda Navarathna, Pani Wewala, Moulavi Mohomad of Ulama Council, Galle, Mohomad Inthikab Lecturer, Kaleel Rahuman and Azeez Nizardeen were appinted as the members of the Task Force.

The two main tasks of the appointed PTF would be-

-To make a study of the implementation of the concept; One Country, One Law within Sri Lanka and prepare a draft Act for the said purpose

-To study the draft Acts and amendments that have already been prepared by the Ministry of Justice in relation to this subject and their appropriateness and if there are suitable amendments to submit proposal for the purpose and include them in such relevant draft as is deemed appropriate.

President Rajapaksa has ordered the PTF to submit the final report on or before 28th February 2022.
