30th Anniversary of Sinhalese Cultural Forum of NSW Inc.
Today, 25th March 2020 is the 30th Anniversary of Sinhalese Cultural Forum of NSW Inc.
The Sinhalese Cultural Forum was officially inaugurated on 25th March 1990 with the Victor Rathnayaka’s “SA” musical concert held at Wentworthville RSL Club Auditorium. This was his second visit to Sydney as his first “SA” concert in Australia was held in 1981 in Sydney John Clancy Auditorim. Since the inception of SCF it was served as the major contributor to promote Sinhala Culture in Australia, particulary in NSW.
Prior to the Official inaguration of Sinhalese Cultural Forum, Same group of people who initiated SCF were actively involved in promoting Sinhalese Culture in NSW. I think we unofficially commenced this group led by Somarathna Dissanayaka way back in 1979 with the Sinhala New Year Cultural Show at the Roslea Community Centre.
