Sixty nine employees of the Minuwangoda apparel factory have tested positive for Covid-19, Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva states.
He said that they tested positive for the virus from the 150 PCR tests carried out and 1,400 employees of the apparel factory are to be subjected to PCR tests.
Meanwhile, officials said that the Covid Prevention Task Force is investigating three-clusters of possible Covid patients related to the discovery of a patient in Divulapitiya. The clusters are, the Brandix Cluster, where the patient was working, the Gampaha Hospital where she was warded for a respiratory ailment and her home village in the Divulapitiya area.
The total from this outbreak is 70 with the first patient and her teenage daughter, he said, adding that they hoped to do around 1,000 PCR tests in these cluster areas today.
Accordingly, the Epidemiology Unit said the toll of confirmed Covid-19 patients in Sri Lanka surged to 3,471 with 199 active cases while 3,259 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospitals
