Virus alert at Sydney Bunnings store at Campbelltown

NSW Health has issued a public health alert after a Bunnings Warehouse employee tested positive for Covid-19

A staff member with coronavirus worked at a major Sydney Bunnings store for three days last week potentially while infectious.

On Saturday night, NSW Health said anyone who visited the Bunnings in Campbelltown, south west Sydney, between Tuesday and Thursday of last week should look out for symptoms.

They’re advising any customers that attended the hardware store’s Campbelltown location on Tuesday 4 August, Wednesday 5 August and Thursday 6 August to watch out for COVID symptoms.

“The advice is due to the identification of a positive case in an employee at the store located at the Corner Kellicar Road and Bugden Place, Campbelltown,” NSW Health said.

It is understood the staff member was self isolating when they received the positive test result as they are a contact of another case.

In a statement Bunnings’ Chief Operating Office Debbie Poole said the firm was doing “everything it could” to support the team member.

“The team member last worked in store on Thursday and, importantly, was wearing a face mask – as all our Campbelltown team have been since 25 July,” she said.

“The health and safety of our team members andcustomers is our absolute focus and weve got incredibly comprehensive protocols for hygiene and cleaning during COVID-19 across our whole store network developed in conjunction with advice from health authorities.”

Bunnings has said  that’s tores will now undergo its third deep clean in just a few days after it emerged a staff member had worked for three days while infectious with COVID-19.
